Many people living in rural areas of the Americas are impacted by poverty, conflict and insecurity but can thrive with modest assistance that builds on their skills as small farmers, especially when working with their neighbors and families toward common objectives.
Working with landmine survivors, displaced families and other victims of conflict it is possible to develop their entrepreneurial skills and ideas and then provide support to launch their locally-focused, small businesses.
Not only are local individuals and groups assisted, but entire communities are aided by injecting capital into local economies to support for individual projects that, in turn, provide services to their neighbors.
Because participation in sports and athletic competition offers important benefits to persons with disabilities by giving them an opportunity to challenge themselves while increasing their self-confidence, DMCHF supports para sports teams in the communities it serves.
No one can tackle these challenges alone. That is why we look to build partnerships with other like-minded organizations, as well as with local governments and businesses.
